Sketching The Future with Regan Robinson

JJ recently participated in the first cohort of the Sketching The Future Series,™ created by futurist, advisor and investor, Regan Robinson.
With her vision to transform the way companies are built, scaled and funded (and ultimately reduce the incidences of cancer and chronic disease), Regan is building an Imaginarium that empowers visionaries to create new possibilities for themselves, their companies and communities by exploring what could be.
“What I’ve learned after more than 20 years of building and scaling companies is that many of the approaches to growth and innovation no longer work. Volatile market conditions mean you must continuously incorporate new information, and the status quo isn’t working for women leaders who care about putting the happiness and wellbeing of herself and team equal to the bottom line.
We need imagination now more than ever. I believe that cultivating this capacity is the single differentiating factor between the companies that thrive and those that don’t. I created the Sketching The Future Series as the first step towards addressing the problem I see with how strategy is approached in a modern business context.”
Specially calibrated for founders and C-suite executives who are short on time, the Sketching The Future Series enables you to harness your imagination, clarify your unique point-of-view on the future and gain the strategic foresight needed to boldly pursue it.

Amanda Shires “Take It Like A Man”
A new album, feature in The New York Times, and tour tickets on sale now

Singer/Songwriter Amanda Shires has an incredible new album out now and was covered in The New York Times! From “Amanda Shires Isn’t Letting Nashville, or Her Marriage, Off the Hook:”
“Then one morning she fell to the ground in pain and was rushed to the hospital, where doctors told her she had suffered an ectopic pregnancy that progressed far enough that one of her fallopian tubes had burst. (“I have a high pain tolerance,” she said, once again in deadpan.) The experience prompted her to write a piece for Rolling Stone decrying the Texas abortion ban that could have affected her treatment had it been passed just a few weeks earlier.
She urged — by name — more country artists to take a stand about the then imminent overturning of Roe v. Wade. “Where are our Nashville folks?” Shires wrote. “Are they just going to sit around and drink beer? I want Garth Brooks out there telling people that women’s health is a priority. That’s what I want. Why not? What does he have to lose?”
In 2022, when success in country music is still tied to institutions like radio that don’t reward rocking the boat, being as outspoken as Shires is a big risk. But she wouldn’t have it any other way. “She’s a searcher, and that’s probably the thing that she values most in herself and other people,” Isbell said.
That individualistic streak makes Shires seem like a modern-day country outlaw, applying the rugged and righteously combative spirit of elders like Shaver and Prine to the version of Nashville she finds herself inhabiting — and challenging to change. That’s the animating spirit, too, she said, behind the provocative album title “Take It Like a Man.””

Where You Do Business Matters

Equality in the workplace is one of the most important business issues of our time.
Pregnant workers who live in or travel to states where abortion is illegal or inaccessible are at risk. Because of the workforce, consumer, and community impact of the fall of Roe v. Wade, businesses of all sizes need to speak out against abortion restrictions, support access to care, and end political giving to anti-abortion politicians.
By a 2:1 margin, employed adults want to be in a state where abortion is legal and accessible. Where you do business matters. The future of gender equality hangs in the balance, putting our families, communities, businesses, and the economy at risk.
We stand against policies that hinder people’s health, independence, and ability to fully succeed in the workplace.
Two New Reports from Free Form: Support Every Survivor + Before and Beyond Crisis

This month, FreeFrom released groundbreaking research and analysis on how race, ethnicity, sexuality, gender, and disability shape the experiences and needs of survivors of gender-based violence.
Support Every Survivor reports first-of-its-kind data on queer, trans, Black, Indigenous, and Latinx survivors’ experiences and needs. The report looks at their finances, the harms they’ve been subjected to, their dreams and goals, and what they need to heal and thrive.
Informed by that data, Before and Beyond Crisis is a roadmap for expanding our society’s response to gender-based violence beyond short-term crisis support. Whether you are a policymaker, employer, investor, lawyer, or community member, the roadmap makes survivor-informed recommendations for how you can help build an ecosystem of support for survivors.
