Give it up to Alice Kim, our Justice Dept. client, who was named one of The 2023 Most Influential ESG Leaders.
Alice started her company, Perfect DD to make clothes for women that have smaller frames and a large chest.
Women like… well, women like me.
I met Alice at the Female Founders Collective incubator.
Her mission resonated with me because ever since early high school I have personally experienced the dearth of button downs, t-shirts or sweatshirts available to women with my body type.
Because high school wasn’t triggering my insecurities enough!
Like many other girls in my position, my workaround was to wear oversized baggy clothing.
A total confidence bust?
Absolutely!
Which brings me to the crux of the matter…
…did you know that a girl's confidence peaks at age 8?
Studies show that before age 12 there’s no variation between girls’ and boys’ confidence levels.
Then girls experience a dramatic decline.
As if that wasn’t tragic enough, Ypulse merged their syndicated data with The Confidence Code for Girls, only to find that…
“Girls never catch up to their male peers.”
In our 30s, we’re still more than 10% behind them in terms of self-confidence.
My business, The Justice Dept., is helping solve this

Want to know what inspires me to do this work?
My clients' surprised reaction when I manage to get them much better terms for themselves and their companies, whether employment, severance, partnerships, asset sales or investments.
They often admit that they never thought they could get that result. Not even hoped.
This blows my mind.
And it refuels my lifelong drive to speak up for women. To keep fighting the fight to close the gender wealth gap, close the gender pay gap, the fight for autonomy over our bodies and our lives.
Because that’s what it comes down to.
Financial independence empowers us to ask for that divorce when things go south, quit that job where we’re not valued or even respected, and ultimately, have a seat at the table where decisions are made.
We have never had a system where capitalism was controlled by both genders.
And given that women are known to trickle down their money and use it for the community good, this is something we need to build like… yesterday.
I want to help women like you feel confident that you are properly paid, that you have the right investors, that you have someone to confide in, all of which enable you to focus on what you need to instead of worrying about what you don’t have.
