For Women Who Are Unapologetically Ambitious and Fiercely Informed
What are you going to do with it?
On March 7, my daughter was struck by a truck as she was leaving school after lacrosse practice. I watched it happen from across the street. We spent four days in the Maimonides Pediatric ICU and came home the day before her 13th birthday. After MRIs, MRAs, CTs, CTAs, ultrasounds, X-rays, and more blood tests than I can count, Nico went back to school today. She still has more tests ahead. But she is here. She is healing. She is a miracle. And we did not get through this alone. Community carried us. People showed up in ways we didn’t even know to ask for—visits, texts, meals, gift cards, emails, calls, DoorDash orders, flowers, cards, check-ins, space, grace. They understood that we didn’t even know what we needed because our only job was getting Nico back to health. There is no way to repay that. To my family, my friends, my Tribeca aunties, our squads, Taco Tuesday crews, our school, Poly Prep, and my clients who gave me the space to be a mother first… thank you isn’t enough. I didn’t want this reminder. But I got it anyway. Community is everything. They are there in the best moments. And they are there when everything falls apart. Hold onto yours. Invest in them. Show up for them. One day, you may need them to hold you up too.
To my community - I love you.

The Wellness Journey: A Personalized Path With Community
And speaking of community, I’m excited for this week’s episode with Dria Murphy, who has built hers around wellness - the good, the bad, and the bullshit. We’re constantly being sold someone else’s version of wellness. The routine. The products. The “formula.” Try this. Add that. Fix yourself. Dria Murphy took a different approach. She didn’t just build a wellness platform; she built a community. One rooted in honesty, not perfection. In connection, not performance. A space where people can engage with wellness in a way that actually reflects real life. On Taking Care of Lady Business, Dria breaks down how she built that community, By Dria, why it matters, and what it takes to create something people don’t just follow, but trust. Because the strongest communities aren’t built on trends. They’re built on consistency, credibility, and showing up.
Real Talk
Wellness isn’t about chasing what’s popular.
It’s about finding what actually supports you.
And building a community that makes that possible.
Stop Faking It: Start Owning It.
As mentioned above, I had a lot on my mind and was remiss in sharing last week's podcast, but independence is too important not to discuss, just like community. Especially financial independence. We’ve been told to fake confidence, to bluff our way through when we don’t know the answer. But here’s the reality: that approach doesn’t magically give us the ability. It only keeps us stuck. On Taking Care of Lady Business, Catherine Valega, Founder of Green Bee Advisory, makes an important point: financial confidence comes from understanding, not pretending.
For too long, women have felt ashamed of not knowing the basics of personal finance. But Catherine is here to change that narrative. She believes that financial literacy isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity. And the first step? Asking the right questions and owning your financial future. In this episode, Catherine shares why it’s essential to stop faking it and start asking questions, learning the basics of wealth building, tax management, and smart investing.
Real Talk
Financial confidence isn’t about pretending to know it all.
It’s about asking the right questions until you do.
People notice when you take control.
Hi, I’m JJ
Since starting the Justice Dept, we have increased women's wealth by over $100MM in just over 5 years. Want to know what inspires me to do this work, other than making women money? My clients' surprised reaction when we manage to get them much better terms for themselves and their companies, whether via talent agreements, employment, severance, partnerships, asset sales or investments. They often admit that they never thought they could get that result. Not even hoped. This blows my mind. As we know at The Justice Dept. you are all worth everything you ask for and more. Reach out and we’ll show you how!
