For Women Who Are Unapologetically Ambitious and Fiercely Informed
The New Way to Shop with Julie Bornstein
I don't know about you, but by about 8pm, if I need to make one more fucking decision in the day, my mind explodes. Seriously, women make a thousand decisions a day - in their career, for their kids, juggling calendars. What's worse, we’re expected to look perfect while doing it. Not sure I have achieved that goal since Covid, but I am giving it a bit more effort now. 😆 So what if one decision could be taken off your plate? That’s exactly what Julie Bornstein is building with Daydream. After selling The Yes to Pinterest, she launched Daydream, an AI-powered shopping platform that raised $50M to reinvent how we find fashion. No more endless scrolling - just tell it what you need (“a dress for a fall wedding,” “a blazer that works on Zoom and IRL”) and Daydream does the work. And you can buy it all right there. Because women don’t need another chore, we need tools that get shit done. Listen to Julie here - not only is the company amazing, her story is very inspiring!!

— The Woman Who Reinvented How We Shop: Julie Bornstein
— 3 Tips for Turning Your Corporate Job Into Your Own Company
— Why Do Men Have it Easier When it Comes to Making Serious Money?

“You can start from scratch, and you can build what you need for today”

Key Takeaways:
— Conviction is the most valuable currency when raising capital
— Starting from scratch creates the freedom to innovate without old limits
— The future belongs to the builders, not the bystanders
— You’re never “too old” or “too late” to build something transformative
— Resilience and risk-taking are essential muscles every founder must build.
3 Tips for Turning Your Corporate Job Into Your Own Company
Julie turned her expertise in online retail sales and built her own company by building on that experience. If you are done with the patriarchal corporate grind, here's how you can do it too:
1. Steal the playbook (legally of course ;-) )
Your corporate job is basically a paid MBA. Pay attention to how deals are structured, how clients are won, and how budgets get approved. Take notes. Take note of the networks and the players in the game. Those that are running and those that are coming up just like you. Now use the system’s resources to learn the rules and then go build your own game.
2. Spot the gaps your company ignores.
The frustrations you see every day that are ignored because your company doesn't know how to innovate - the broken processes, underserved clients, outdated models - are business opportunities in disguise. The things you bitch to your friends about at happy hour drinks, which are the pain points inside your job, are the profit points for your company. Use them.
3. Monetize your expertise, not just your time.
At a corporate gig, you sell hours. As a founder, you sell outcomes. Package what you know into a service, product, or platform that scales without you chained to a desk. That’s how you shift from paycheck to equity. Agency and Freedom. Here at TJD, that's what we call heaven.
Why Do Men Have It Easier When It Comes To Making Serious Money?
We know their wives do it all, but did you know how much? 86% of successful men are married and 71% of men in the top 1% of income have married stay-at-home wives. Even though they could hire all the staff they needed, they also have a stay-at-home wife to handle. What we do have, however, that they don't, our friendships - listen to Regina Hall on Good Hang with Amy Poehler!

Hi, I’m JJ.
Since starting the Justice Dept, we have increased women's wealth by over $100MM in just over 5 years. Want to know what inspires me to do this work, other than making women money? My clients' surprised reaction when we manage to get them much better terms for themselves and their companies, whether via talent agreements, employment, severance, partnerships, asset sales or investments. They often admit that they never thought they could get that result. Not even hoped. This blows my mind. As we know at The Justice Dept. you are all worth everything you ask for and more. Reach out and we’ll show you how!
