Welcome to the July edition of the Lady Business newsletter, a space where we share all the Lady Business wins, tips and opportunities including how our clients and friends are building a system that works for us. This month we have an extra special win to celebrate in the success of our favorite pink loving lady, Barbie! From record breaking box office to facing her fears, to pissing off Republicans, is there anything she can’t do? And speaking of facing fears, I recently did just that. I had to give a speech to an audience that was particularly intimidating to me - yes it’s true! But I did it - and below I give some tips on how you can too.

“Barbie” is #1 highest-grossing opening for a female director in the HISTORY OF CINEMA!
Not only that, it seems to be the #1 scariest movie for Republicans afraid of facing a reality of women in power. Poor babies 😢.
“Barbie” far exceeded opening weekend expectations, generating an impressive $162 million within its first three days in domestic theaters.
Believe it or not, fewer than 100 films have surpassed $100 million in their opening weekend. "Barbie" is a special stand out among these 100 considering most films to achieve this are traditionally male-driven, superhero movies existing in the worlds of Marvel and DC or from marquee franchises like Harry Potter, Star Wars or Jurassic Park.

FACING FEARS

Breaking it Down: How do you face fear?
1) ACKNOWLEDGE THE FEAR EXISTS
I face a fear by first acknowledging it, and acknowledging why I am not doing something. I do it all the time.
2) TAKE THE TIME TO QUESTION THE FEAR
I have to take the time to ask: Why am I scared of this? What is the worst that’s going to happen? And if I don’t do it, what am I going to regret? That’s always the thing that motivates me the most. You have one short life.
3) EVALUATE: AM I VALUING MYSELF?
Is it my intuition or my fear that is stopping me from pursuing something? I always take myself out of the situation. If you’re being undervalued or they’re not seeing your worth, then your intuition is saying, you know what–– I’m not going to do that. Whereas a fear is when you are not valuing yourself. That’s the difference.
4) LOOK AT THE FACTS AND TAKE ACTION
I overcame my fears by getting rid of all the limiting behaviors and thoughts that I was having. That I wasn’t good enough. That I wasn’t worthy. And looked to the actual facts of what I have accomplished in life. I learned very quickly that I do have the capacity to be super successful outside of what I’m defined as in other jobs or positions.
